On Tuesday, June 18, 2013, Palestine Regional announced Dr. James Wood as the new director of Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. Dr. Wood has served as Interim Medical Director of the Palestine Regional Wound Care Center since September 4, 2012, after being contracted through Central Texas Wound Healing Associates of Killeen, TX.
Dr. Wood attended Baylor University and The University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio, Texas. He then completed his Post-Graduate Internship at Indiana University, a Residency in General Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and a Residency in General Surgery at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, where he was Chief Resident. Dr. Wood’s professional experience began in General Surgery at Val Verde Memorial Hospital in Del Rio, Texas in 1982. From 1983 to 2002, Wood served at King’s Daughters Clinic and Hospital in Temple, Texas, as a General Surgeon and Emergency Room Physician.
Dr. Wood is excited to continue his stent with Palestine Regional stating, "PRMC’s Wound Care Center has a wonderful atmosphere. We are family oriented rather than simply focusing on the individual being treated. Our exceptional staff goes above and beyond for our patients and their families every day."
PRMC Wound Care staff members added, "We offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy and bio-engineered tissue services. We would like our locals to be aware that they can get top-notch care with the added convenience of staying right here in Palestine."
